Sailing Center Coordinator

Coordinator Job Description
The Sailing School Coordinator is responsible for day of sailing school management, coordination and communication on behalf of the Sailing Center Board.
Status: Part-time, annual contract, approx. 20 - 30 hours per week during the 8 weeks of sailing school (June through August) with 5 to 10 hours per week for preparation ahead of the sailing season and to wrap up at the end of summer.
Location: Clear Lake Yacht Club in Clear Lake, Iowa
Compensation: Dependent on experience and qualifications, payable on a monthly basis
Required Skills: The position requires excellent communication and organization skills, the ability to use a spreadsheet, work in google drive and manage a schedule.
Duties / Responsibilities Include:
At Sailing School
Arrive a minimum of 30 minutes ahead of class start time to prepare
Greet parents and students
Be available for questions, collect payments and sell merchandise
Take attendance, monitor as students are going out on the water and as they’re leaving at the end of class
Be available to supervise children that stay back from sailing if coaches are not present
Ensure a safe learning environment, emergency action plan, enforce policies, and report incidents and boat damage
Oversee as things are cleaned up and put away at the end of the day
Maintain open communication with the Sailing Center Board
Attend board meetings to offer updates and feedback as needed
Act as a liaison between coaches, parents, students and the Board
Communicate with the coaching staff and act as mentor, leader, and cheerleader
Oversee curriculum, daily and weekly schedules, lesson plans student skill assessments
Communicate changes to class size and number of coaches needed
Monitor coaching expectations, procedures and appropriate behavior
Registration, reports and record keeping
Monitor incoming registrations, collect payments and manage registrant communication
Keep accurate records of attendance, payments received and merchandise sales
Update reports, print class lists weekly and send necessary information to the board and coaching staff

Preparation for the season will start in mid-May, with sailing classes running from June through mid August. Applicants must be at least 14 years old.
Applications will be reviewed and responded to on a rolling basis. These are hourly, seasonal positions, with pay based on experience. Scheduled hours each week will vary depending on student enrollment in the sailing school.
